Children & families at St. Michael’s

St. Michael’s is a church family and our young people and children are right at the heart of it. We consider it a huge joy to have a church that is filled with the laughter and enthusiasm of our young families and we consider it a privilege to walk with them on their journey of faith.

Our children’s ministry, Seekers, is overseen by the amazing Vicky and Alison. On a Sunday, the younger children meet down at the Hub (with groups for children between 3-11) and our young people (12 and up) meet in the main church for a time of fellowship and fun together.

We strongly believe that our children and young people are the future of St. Michael’s (and God’s church!) They have a faith and ministry to share with their generation and only they can do it! Our job is to help support them and encourage them in their journey so that they can make the amazing news of Jesus known to their friends and community in a way that is relevant and engaging to them.

What does a Sunday look like for our children?

• 10am – Gather in church
• We have a time of worship together (usually including a kids’ song – and maybe a visit from our Cheeky Pandas!)
• Children go to the hub for fun and fellowship whilst the service continues in the main church
• Children return after communion for Family News and a final song
• Drinks and biscuits!

If you are new to the church you are really welcome to accompany your children to the Hub during their time there, to see what goes on and make sure they’re comfortable.

Little Whiskers

Little Whiskers meets every Thursday from 10am – 12pm at The Hub (just behind the church and down the steps.) It’s for toddlers and caregivers and all are welcome! We enjoy playing together, eating snacks (we really enjoy eating snacks!) singing, listening to stories and (if the weather allows) playing outside in our secure garden. We’d love for you to join us! There’s no need to book, just come along!

Messy Church

Our Messy Church does exactly what it says on the tin! It’s Messy, and loud and most of all…fun! We run our Messy Churches four times a year, with a Messy Christmas outside including Santa’s Grotto, a Snow Machine and much more. We often get hundreds of people coming along and we love to bless them with free crafts, activities and food! We’re often joined, too, by our resident Cheeky Pandas – come along and see if you can spot them!

Who Let The Dads Out?

WLTDO meets on the first Saturday of every month in the church. It’s for all dads and father figures
and kids under 10. Whilst the children have loads of toys to play with, dads might also enjoy bacon
rolls, coffee, the morning papers and the brownie points they’ve earned for mum getting a lie in! No
need to book, just come along and join us, we’d love to see you!
