A Magnificently Messy Church was achieved on Saturday 18th January 2020. We had more than 120 people in the church which was atmospheric, messy and great fun!
Begun in 2004, Messy Church has since grown into a national phenomenon as a popular, practical model for local parishes engaging in mission.
The research by the “Church Army’s Research Unit” in January 2019 discovered evidence to CELEBRATE
- Messy Church is reaching families who are new to church
- Messy Church is growing disciples
- Messy Church is modelling new patterns ofleadership
- Messy Churches are developing and maturing as church
This significant new research proves that Messy Church is not ‘just a bit of fun’.
Here at St Michael and All Angels Church we held a Messy Church Event with the theme of Joseph. Jospeh appeared in our church in a number of different forms:
We had decorating ginger bread men with an amazing coloured coat; jewellery making; interactive tablet Biblical games; treasure hunt; word puzzles; decorating a collage of Joseph and Joseph’s coat (which was magnificently worn by Father John) and head dress making. This was all followed by the Biblical story of Joseph, a sing-song and a party food buffet.
Thank you so much to all the Messy Church Volunteers and all the families that attended. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. We look forward to seeing you at our next Messy Church event on Saturday 18th April 2020
